Gravity anomalies are an expression of deviations from the
Earth's gravitational potential as defined by the spherical
harmonic expansion of the geopotential coefficients.
Gravity anomalies are applied in GEODYN II on free air
anomalies located in specific areas on the earth's surface.
There areas are defined by blocks. (master blocks) bounded
by lines of latitude and longitude.
A master block is an area bounded by lines of latitude and
longitude which may be subdivided into blocks of equal size
(in terms of boundary lengths in degrees of latitude and
longitude) each of which has the same a-priori value of
gravity anomaly.
GEODYN II divides the master blocks into 3 subdivisions.
