1-6 A6 PLANOR - Introduces modification and/or
estimation of planetary orientation parameters:
All the parameters below are evaluated and
input at J2000. [NOTE 2]
= right ascension
d
/dt = right ascension rate
= declination
d
/dt = declination rate
g = prime meridian
d
g/dt = prime meridian rate
d2
g/dt2 = prime meridian acceleration
Ai = Coefficient to cos
ti term.
Bi = Coefficient to sin
ti term.
i = 1, # of periodic terms
A blank PLANOR card will cause all the above
parameters to be adjusted with sigma =
1.D0. The first seven plus two periodic
terms initial values for the above
parameters are taken from the IAU Reports.
Presently in GEODYN values from the 1988
IAU report are used. Also in the case of
Venus, the user may choose to use the 1988
or the 1991 values (Look at the PLANET card
documentation) The PLANOR card however
allows the user to modify the values of any
of the above parameters and estimate only
selected parameters with the with the help
of the following index on col. 7.

of selected parameters.

PLANOR8 and PLANOR9 in consecutive pairs
may be repeated as many times as the number
of periodic terms. More than one paramter
may be selected and modifeid. When a paramter
is selected (PLANOR1) then a value for this
paramter may be specified on cols. 60-72 and a
sigma may be specified on cols. 73-80. In this
case all the other planetary orientation
parameters will be fixed using a sigma = 1.D-20.
19-24 I6 Reference epoch for planetary orientation Jan 1,2000
parameters (YYMMDD) Only one reference
epoch applies to all planetary orientation
parameters. It may be specified on the
first PLANOR card in the setup.
25-44 D20.8 Period in earth seconds must be included 59355072 sec.
on every PLANOR8 card (1 Mars period in
Earth seconds.)

73-80 D8.2 Sigma of parameter specified by index on
col. 7. [NOTE 1]
NOTE[1]: When planetary orientation parameters are adjusted, the GEODYN output
summary expresses them in the frame and units of adjustment. This
is degrees of epoch J2000 and degrees/seconds for the rates.
NOTE[2]: In GEODYN version 9708, the above option works for all planets. The
PLANOR option does not work properly for the moon.
