Dear RADS users,
Those who were at the Living Planet Symposium in Bergen a month ago, will have heard about the new orbits for ERS-1 and ERS-2 created under the REAPER project. This project aims at reprocessing all ERS-1 and ERS-2 data from scratch. Part of the job is to generate new orbits, replacing the now somewhat stale Delft orbits, that I generated with the DGM-E04 gravity field now almost a decade ago.
Three skilled groups (DEOS, GFZ and ESOC) have provided their first version of the orbits, running from the start of the ERS-1 Phase C(*) until June 2003 when ERS-2 lost its second tape recorder. At ESOC, also a combination solution was produced. The four flavours of orbits are now part of RADS and can be found as fields:
420 (alt.reaper) REAPER orbital altitude (combined solution)
421 (alt.reaper_deos) REAPER/DEOS orbital altitude
422 (alt.reaper_gfz) REAPER/GFZ orbital altitude
423 (alt.reaper_esoc) REAPER/ESOC orbital altitude
(*) Some of the orbital flavours are also available for ERS-1 Phase A and B at this point. The next versions will surely cover those Phases.
Attached is the presentation Michiel Otten gave at the Symposium.
Enjoy,
Remko
